Shopping!

Today we took full advantage of Mike's day off! After a lazy morning we hit the ground running and didn't return home until after dinner! We bought some random odds and ends including a stainless steel cleaner that gets great reviews (our new fridge is stainless and I'm having a hard time finding a product that doesn't leave streaks), a sprinkler, shoe racks, and this impulse buy.. well not really an impulse buy, I've been looking at these for sometime! Mike thinks they are tacky but he gave in and now we have 2! Not that we really need more glasses. Ahem.

As I was saying, we had a busy day of purchases! The most exciting items include a new coffee table and a leather chair for the family room! The leather chair is super comfortable!! I can already envision nights of tea + knitting by the fire. Maybe a small dog at my feet... The chair was in stock so we took that home with us (that was an adventure involving slow speeds and twine..) and the coffee table will be delivered in about 2 weeks. I can't find the chair online so will have to post a picture later, but this is our new coffee table!
It's the perfect combination of what we were looking for - something with a leather look (aka the top is not real leather) to go with our new chair as well as storage space! The table is also part of a set so in the near future we may be getting this end table - or something similar with more storage. :)

How exciting, right??

Rain go away!

It has been so rainy and icky these past few days!! It's putting me in a funk! I've been recovering from a cold this week (thanks to husband for sharing) and have not been doing my yoga as consistently. Today after sitting on my butt all morning I forced myself to do yoga! When I feel gross working out is really the last thing I want to do, but getting back into a good routine has magical powers.

The health insurance we have through Mike's company rewards us for exercise so I have been tracking my efforts and I've been working out consistently since March 4th! Basically 2 months! So.. to normal healthy people this is not a big deal - but to me! This is big. I have a great history of working out for 2 weeks and then not doing anything for months. I'm feeling great and seeing results in muscle strength and stamina so hopefully this can continue!

I'm being nicer to myself during this process too - realizing that working out some is a heck of a lot better than none! I started off with a goal of every other day - that way I eased my way into it and didn't get burn out. I find this to be more realistic of what I ultimately want to do anyway. For me, working out every day is just not in the cards. So why push myself to do it for a week and then get disappointment when a schedule or whatever doesn't allow. Realistic goals - such an easy concept, but challenging to put into place!

Before I left, mother in law taught me how to knit! It seems like everyone with awful winters has a "winter project" so I'm planning ahead and learning the art of knitting. This past week I finished my first project!! I used this pattern from Ravelry. I ran out of yarn so mine is a bit shorter, but it looks/ feels/ smells (kidding) like a scarf - so I must have succeeded! Next I'm going to try this pattern. I started this morning and quickly (well 2 hours) realized that I wasn't doing it correctly. After a few youtube videos and some practice I'm getting the hang of it!! Never again will I cast on more than 20 stitches if I don't know what I'm doing!!

Mike worked days Friday - Sunday, is off tomorrow and then switches to nights Tues-Thurs. Poor guy!

Time to shower and maybe paint my nails! Hope you have had a good weekend!

We live together!

Well it's official! On Friday April 6th we closed on our house! April 7 the moving truck arrived and we moved in! It's amazing to me that it has been 3 weeks!!
happy hour with my folks after making the long drive to Iowa on 4/6!
For the most part we are pretty well settled! This past Wednesday our new couch was delivered and we got internet installed! We certainly have many more purchases ahead of us (coffee table is on my priority list!) but we have blinds hung in the essential places (more to come eventually) and we no longer have to sit on lawn furniture in our family room! We have a guest bed but currently no sheets, however that will be fixed in a week or so, in time for the in laws to visit! So - we're getting there! Mike has hung most of our pictures too!

Last night we had our neighbors over for dinner! It has been so wonderful to cook in our new kitchen - having counter top space and proper storage makes life so much easier!!

Mike's job is going well and he seems to be adjusting well to the 12 hour shifts - and switching between days and nights. I tell you what -he is a trooper! That would be so hard for me!!

More pictures and news to come later! Have a great Friday evening!!
